So I Guess I Know When I'm Buying a 360

Sometime in 2008

Ummm... the 360 is pretty amazing, even without a Tim game...

Of course. But I figure since I didn't buy an Xbox until Psychonauts came out, I'd go ahead and wait for Brütal Legend to come out this time around :)

Are you not interested in Mass Effect? That's what was in the back of my mind when I bought mine! :)

You know, I'm really not. Granted, I have seen absolutely zero hype about the whole thing, so I simply haven't had a chance to have anything catch my eye.

My plan is basically to buy the 360 when Brütal Legend comes out, and then find the half-dozen or so must-have titles on it then -- it's always a thrill to get a new system and have stuff to play, one after the other, which has been a bit of a problem for me with the Wii, just not a lot of stuff. I've played the big three (Zelda, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Paper Mario) for Wii and there's not a lot of other stuff that really grabs me yet (see, for example, my commentary on Trauma Center: Second Opinion).

Another reason, of course, is that I still have about ten original Xbox titles that I haven't even cracked open. As I mentioned, I bought an Xbox late (when Psychonauts finally came out), and have picked up a number of titles at bargain basement prices now that the system is last-gen. This is on top of probably three or four PS2 titles I'd like to get to, and about the same number of Gamecube titles. I'm about an hour from finishing Oblivion, so after that I'm going to hit something on one of these last-gen systems tonight.

When I finally do get a 360, though, I'll probably also get a Live account so that I can play co-op with folks and such like, and to play Schizoid when that releases (which admittedly will probably be before BL). And hey, I'll be able to borrow some of these games besides :)

Thank you for making me not feel completely alone in mack lack of interest in Mass Effect. I've also not really studied it, and I'm sure it'll be a really good game... It just lacks the 'oomph' to make me anticipate it.

Of course that said I've long had a 360 (and plan to get a Wii whenever I both see one on shelves and have the space cash at the same time.)

Hey, no problem, I guess I'm here as a public service for the Mass Effect apathy crowd and apparently a foil to the Mass Effect OMG crowd :)

The Wii in the wild is a hard thing to spot indeed. I scored one last January and while I haven't played tons of stuff on it (though the boys and I still enjoy the occasional Mario Party 8 game and to a lesser extent some RaymanRR or Wario), it's been fun to have. My folks come down in a few days and since I bought one for Dad's birthday (admittedly, as an expensive Gamestop bundle with stuff I didn't need), we'll definitely be hitting the bowling alley for a while then too.

Still, can't wait for Super Smash Bros and Super Mario Galaxy (and Mario Kart Wii). And others. TR: Anniversary, for example, or maybe RE Umbrella Chronicles. Possibly also NiGHTs, though I never played the original, so I can't speak to this rabid fanboyism I'm seeing in various forums and such.

By the way, am I crazy? I just checked Gamestop to see the Wii Coming Soon list, and on the first page there are listings for used games. Coming soon: EA Playground... Used. That seems like a bad database bug or something. Maybe they should just list all the titles that are going to be released as being available soon Used.

I'm with Chris on this one. I'm defintely jazzed about Mass Effect. (And with the acquisition, now I can get it free! Sometimes being a part of the Evil Empire has real benefits.)

Ironically, the game that is currently in my 360's drive? Psychonauts.

Heh. Guess what's in my 360 drive? KOTOR 2 (which I hadn't finished).

However I will say that Orange Box is in the mail and on its way to me. :)

I need to switch out my sidebar, actually. I stopped playing _Ninja_Gaiden_Black_ (it had moved from "extreme challenge" to "replaying same 15 minutes over and over again only to die in two swipes at a particularly gnarly encounter") in favor of _Oddworld:_Stranger's_Wrath_. _Stranger_ has quite a bit of charm and some interesting gameplay elements -- I don't think there's enough there to sustain my interest through a huge, long game, but I could find a lot of fun in half a dozen hours or so. (I admit, it could be a 40 hour game, I have no idea, but so far there's definitely less than 10 hours of ideas there.)

I guess I know when I'm seeing another post on this blog.
